Listen up parents – I’ve got some big, important things to share today and I just know you’re going to love all of them.
First, an awesome giveaway in which, drumroll please…
One lucky MPMK reader is going to win a brand new Surface!
Bet that got your attention, huh? My husband just bought our family’s first Surface about a month ago and we really love it so when I found out I’d be working with Microsoft on their Bing in the Classroom campaign, I had the idea that it might be fun to give one away.
Of course, I’m going to need something from you guys in return. But don’t worry, it’s super easy AND it’s going to benefit you, your kids, and your kids’ schools in a big, big way.
Ready? Here it is…
Step 1: Click over and learn about BING IN THE CLASSROOM.
So what is Bing in the Classroom? It’s a new idea that I personally think is kind of revolutionary. In a nutshell, Bing is now offering schools the chance to sign up for the first ever search tool specifically designed for students. That means that when students go to access the internet their searches and results will be:
- 100% advertising free
- strictly filtered for adult content
- subject to enhanced privacy protections
Here’s a 30 second video with Jenna Bush-Hager talking about what Bing in the Classroom does and why it’s so important.
Isn’t it amazing that no one else has thought of doing this? I have to say, any company willing to shelve their ads and put the bottom line aside in favor of educating our kids in a safe and responsible way gets a big thumbs up from me.
My 5 year old son, C, is starting kindergarten next fall and I was elated when I found out his elementary school will have a STEM program (you know how much I love all things STEM). But I was also a little worried about him traveling down the internet rabbit hole at such a young age.
Which is why the first thing I did when I saw this campaign was to say yes to #adfreesearch in schools myself. The very next thing I did was forward the page to our elementary school’s administrators. It was super easy – I just clicked on “find your school” in the bottom right hand corner of the homepage, found my school, and filled out the request that they enroll in ad-free searching.
I highly encourage you to do the same! (Go ahead and do it now, I’ll wait.)
Now that that’s done, it’s almost time to enter to win a Surface for your family. First, though, be sure to click on the “about the program” tab at the top of the Bing in the Classroom page to learn how you can easily earn free Surface tablets for your child’s school.
Ok, now that you’re homework’s complete, it’s time to enter to win your own Surface. Good luck and thanks to Bing for sponsoring today’s discussion and bringing #AdFreeSearch to our schools.
