Easter is in March this year so it’s time to roll out the ideas. We’re kicking things off with Alli and her super cute bunny donut idea, perfect for Easter. We’ll probably make ours Saturday morning since we do family brunch on Easter Sunday. Yes, we are working on clean eating around here but I have not problem having a treat or two on a special occasion – all things in moderation!
Who says you can’t play with your food? Especially your kids’ food.
Last year for Easter, we made these bunny tails out of our own homemade donut recipe. But this year, we decided to go straight for the store bought version. Blame it on Mommy’s pregnancy cravings mid-grocery run.
Our activity theme for this month is Easter, so I was determined to surprise Isaiah with a bunny breakfast at some point. And I just loved how our finished product turned out. He was almost too cute to eat. (Notice, I said almost).
To make these super simple donut bunnies, all you’ll need are:
- powdered mini donuts
- two toothpicks
- 1 pink jelly bean
- confetti sprinkles
- card stock paper (pink and white)
- scissors

My first step was to cut out the ears. I used the white paper to cut basic bunny ear shapes, doing my best to match the size of the mini donuts. Then I cut the same shape, only smaller, out of pink paper to make the inside of the ears.
After gluing those pieces together, I hot glued a toothpick to the back of each ear.

Next it was time to create my bunny (I named mine “Hopalong” for kicks).

I placed two mini donuts on a plate, inserted the toothpick ears, and added a jelly bean to the middle of the top donut to create the nose. Lastly, I used another jelly bean to create small holes for each of the eyes, and carefully dropped one blue confetti sprinkle into each indention to create the eye itself.
That’s it!

One thing is for sure, as much as I loved making it, Isaiah loved it more (down to the last bunny bite).
P.S. Looking to get ahead on the spring cleaning season…
