It’s mid-November, you know what that means… time to figure out this year’s Advent calendar. What? You’re still thinking about Thanksgiving? Me too. But December will be here before we know it.
I’m hoping to pull together an extra special list of Advent activities for the kids this year (more on that tomorrow) so I need to start planning now. Step number one is to find a snazzy calendar. To that end, here’s a list of my favorite offerings this year.
A minimalist Etsy offering – Paper Countdown Calendar $26.90.
This one won’t work for our plans this year. Nevertheless, I’m smitten with the story of Olive, the Other Reindeer and I like that each day reveals a foldable figure to add to the pop-up Christmas scene – Olive, The Other Reindeer Pop Up Advent Calendar $12.
This modern and customizable decal is another Etsy find that comes in 40 possible colors. Again, not something we can use but kinda fun – Christmas Advent Calendar Tree Holiday Vinyl Decor (40×22 in custom colors) $39.95.
This is an heirloom quality calendar from Pottery Barn that you can personalize with your last name. I can picture my kids’ eyes lighting up when I unpack it each year – Pottery Barn Stocking Advent Calendar $89.
I like the flexibility of these buttons. You can attach them to small bags, wrapped books, or whatever else you can think of – Advent Calendar Buttons $22.44.
Another calendar that’s a bit more of an investment, but I’m a sucker for the exuberant colors –Kids Holiday Decor: Christmas Tree Calendar Countdown from The Land of Nod $69.
At only $9 for the PDF, these printable Christmas mittens are an adorable steal – Vintage North Pole Christmas Printable Advent Calendar $9.
On the other end of the spectrum are these Christmas stockings – Garnet Hill Mini-Felt-Stockings Advent Calendar $78.
I kind of like the challenge of finding things to fit in each of these pockets – Kids Holiday Decor: Kids Chambray Christmas Advent Calendar at The Land of Nod $39.
Here’s another pop-up calendar, this time by Eric Carle – Eric Carle Pop Up Advent Calendar $8.79.
Finally, there’s this year’s LEGO Advent Calendar. I think my kiddos might still loose some of the pieces but next year this will be very tempting – LEGO 2012 City Advent Calendar $34.99.
