I’ll admit, when I first saw the message in my inbox asking if I wanted to team up with the new movie Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer I was skeptical. I don’t do a whole lot of sponsored posts or giveaways here and its not from a lack of opportunity. I value the community we’ve built and I want to make sure I’m always providing you with things that have real value for your family.
But then I did some research with the womenfolk in my family – two aunts and a cousin, teachers and total bookworms all. (Aren’t I lucky to have so many informed women around when I need them?) They gave me the thumbs up on the mega-popular Judy Moody book series.
Then I watched the trailer and I was sold. A movie about an adventurous 3rd grader who pushes herself and her friends to be creative and try new things in order to have a “NOT bummer summer” is something I can get behind. The film is being released nation-wide tomorrow (June 10th), you can check out the trailer below.
So here’s my idea – make a special day of it. Take your kiddo on a date to the movie, then come home and make a plan to have a “NOT bummer summer” of your own. I’ve rounded up a few awesome summer bucket lists above for inspiration.
And in case you want to add a trip to the American Girl store to your summer bucket list (or just want to get a new friend to come along on your adventures), the friendly folks behind Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer have given us a $150 American Girl Gift Card to give away.
That’s right – $150! Just leave a comment below telling me what’s at the top of your summer bucket list and be sure to include an email address. One additional entry each for being an MPMK subscriber, facebook fan, or twitter follower. Plus one more entry for sharing this post via facebook or twitter. Please leave a separate comment for each entry in order for it to count! The contest is open to all U.S. residents and will close at midnight EST on Thursday June 16th, 2012. THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED.

We made a huge list just yesterday. Probably the top of the list is going to Washington DC. But simple things like reading for money has gotten my soon to be 2nd grader excited. I bought her this Judy Moody book last night so she can read it before we go to the movie! My kids love Judy Moody. art4littlehands@gmail.com

Enjoy a “stay-cation” here at home! In looking at various sites & blogs recently … I have found that there is SO much right here at home that we’ve never done. Restaurants to eat at, museums, road trips. This summer we’re going to try a few while saving a few bucks by not having to book any flights

We recently discovered that much of the severe anxiety my nine year old daughter has suffered for years is from sensory processing disorder. We’ve seen huge progress with OT and brushing. I just really really want her to be able to try a few new things this summer. I want to go on vacation and actually be able to leave the condo. I think it might happen. I’m hopeful.

We are headed to Chattanooga for a family reunion and my girls have always wanted to go to the AGS so we will be stopping at the one near Atlanta. We will also be going to the Georgia aquarium which has been on my girls’ list since learning it is the world’s largest aquarium.
