Father’s Day Gift Guide: Save vs. Splurge

Last week I posted Father’s Day ideas that involved giving your husband some great memories with the kids.  But maybe you already had the books I recommended, or just don’t have the time to put together one of the handmade gifts that were highlighted, and you’re still searching for that perfect item.

Just for you, I’ve put together a visual road map of options.  Whether you’re looking to go on the cheap or go all out, your guy’s a techie or a foodie, there’s something here for you!

Top left: Bone Suckin’ Sauce $6.74/pint – My husband’s absolute favorite.  A three pack of this stuff will probably last about a month in our house.  Check out the original, hot, and extra thick flavors as well as their custom spice rubs.

Top right: Cuisinart 10-Piece Deluxe Grill Set $65.95 – Guys take BBQ seriously and these tools (complete with leather case) will show your hubby you understand the bond he has with his grill.  The perfect gift to celebrate both dad and summertime.

Middle left: Battlestar Galactica $150.99 – I’ve never seen the show, but I hear it’s kind of a big deal.  If there’s a dad in your life who would agree – the complete series is 50% off list price on Amazon right now.
Middle right: True Grit $14.99 – If you’re not in the market for a whole series, maybe just one movie will do.  This is a western (for him) with Matt Damon (for you).  It’s a win-win (even if Matty’s not exactly sporting the Jason Bourne physique we all know and love).

Bottom left: iPhone 4 Bounce Case with Pong Radiation Reducing Technology $49.99 – This one is my favorite.  Along with looking cool and protecting your husband’s precious iphone, it also protects his precious head.  This special case is designed to reduce the amount of electromagnetic radiation absorbed by your head by up to 95%.  With the WHO’s recent findings that cell phone use could possibly cause cancer, I’m thinking of buying one of these for everyone in my family.

Bottom right: Canon EOS Rebel T3i $867.54 – No doubt this is a splurge but if you’ve been thinking of taking the plunge into the world of digital SLR cameras, this is the one to get.  This is the camera that’s easy enough for beginners to use but also has all the fancy pro-level features so you won’t grow out of it.  It’s also got a killer high definition video recorder built in.  Plus, its immense popularity means that there are tons of free resources online to help you use it to its full potential.  I have the T2i and LOVE it – the T3i is the latest and greatest version that just hit the shelves a few months ago.
