You all know Made by Joelright? The site that makes you simultaneously think “Why didn’t I think of that?” (because it’s so beautifully simple) and “I could never do that” (because of Joel’s continued creativity and artistic skill)?
What do you think you’d get if Made by Joel fell in love with Craft Jr. (one of babble’s top 10 kids craft blogs) and had a baby?
You’d get Modern Parents Messy Kids of course! Ok, not really – not at all actually. But how about this…
What would you get if you combined Made by Joel‘s latest super simple toy and Craft Jr.‘s free Easter printables? Click through to find out.
It’s the perfect handmade toy for baby’s first Easter Basket! I’m putting an MPMK twist on S and C’s Easter baskets this year and this is your sneak peek at what’s to come.
For this project (which I also refer to as the “Which Came First?” toy), I simply printed out Craft Jr.’s Easter chick and egg graphics in a small, medium and large size. Then I traced the shapes onto felt, cut them out and I was done.
Super simple but also super perfect for baby.
Super simple but also super perfect for baby.
I gave S a pre-Easter preview of her new toy so we could all see how she liked it.

Joel said the beauty of this toy is that the layers gently stick together due to the nature of the fabric. He was right and that along with the various colors, sizes and shapes of the layers really got the attention of little S.

After several minutes of vigorous play, S spaced out for a bit – still holding tightly to one of the eggs. I think today’s new toy has got her pondering, “what did come first, the chick or the egg??”.
Over the next two weeks I’ll be sharing lots more of S and C’s Easter baskets so be sure to check back often for all the details.

Very cute! My son was loving a little puzzle this weekend, similar to this with a paper doll kinda idea… Maybe I could make him more games/puzzles with felt… hmmmm. Thanks for sharing!
What a marvelously simple toy! I think toddlers and preschoolers would like it too!
Steph, how did you determine the small, medium & large sizes for this toy?
