Have you tried making your own sensory box yet? The Eye Spy bottle, another brilliant tutorial over at Pink and Green Mama, is basically a sensory box in a bottle. It's a lifesaver for long car trips, visiting friends who don't have kids (and don't have toys), waiting for food in a restaurant, keeping your kids distracted from the germ-covered toys in the pediatrician's waiting room... the list could go on and on. Plus, now is a perfect time to make a St. Patty's day bottle complete with green rice and lots of Dollar Store Irish goodies.
To make, simply fill a bottle with rice, dried beans, etc. and various small objects. Important Note: make sure to glue the top on the bottle - DO NOT skip this step if you ever want to be invited back to your friends house, favorite restaurant, etc. Next, make a visual reference guide of the objects in the bottle.
That's it! Hand it over to your kids and watch them pass the time trying to find all the items in the bottle. When they get sick of that, there are all types of other games they can play like finding items that start with a certain letter or are a certain color. And kids always love to race, be it with each other or against a clock. Head over to Pink and Green Mama to get all the details on her Eye Spy bottle pictured above including those fab color coded reference cards.

We are DOING this!!! I love how you reminded readers not to skip the gluing the lid on step. Sounds like you know all about it! I'll follow your directions and not question them one bit! LOL
